Ladle: Episode 3
This is an episode in a free series. Want to watch it? It is free to do so, you just need to log into the site, and you can enjoy this video and many other videos we think you will love.
This is the last third of making a substantial kitchen utensil from solid hardwood. It’s a lifetime kitchen tool designed to develop your carving and shaping skills with substantive insight into how we must learn to work our wood according to the changing direction of the wood grain. This last episode focuses on shaping the back of the bowl, and for this, we use different spokeshaves, saws, and rasps to get the shape we want for the best-looking ladle.

Excellent lesson. I’m wondering how much time it actually took to complete the ladle?
With the cuts, it’s hard to determine.
I asked Paul and his reply is below:
Having made hundreds of similar items like spoons, etc, I calculated about an hour and a half
Thanks!
