Transitioning from a prototype ensures that things fit. It also assures that any mistakes in the design can be fixed before we get to the final version. It’s also an opportunity to check your drawings and the accuracy of everything as you go. In this episode, Paul closes out another level in the design and making process before he prepares his stock for the joinery, knowing that everything will come together which helps him to work with confidence.
As time has moved on, the back wall is looking more and more like the old castle shop backwall. I like seeing the “lived” in shop much better than the curated presentation. You know this is a place were work is done for results rather than likes.
I was thinking the same thing. I try once a year to take photos in my shop. It doesn’t change much but over the years I can see changes.
I appreciate how Paul shares with us the reality of hand tool woodworking, like the sliding of the knife at 20:40 when making a knife wall. I used to think I lacked ability when I would do something similar. Now, I see it happens to all of us and becomes an exercise of making the correction and keeping on.
I realize I am likely missing something very obvious here, but are there drawings available for this project and if so, how do I access. Thanks for your help
They aren’t available yet. We are behind on releasing the drawings.
