Applying and aligning the drawer fronts ready for fixing, and establishing exact lengths and widths, is quick and simple with a few trade secrets. And there are several in this episode. Applied fronts make the task easy, but the last thing we want is any sloppiness in closing them. We also walk you through making the upstand for the back of the cabinet to stop things sliding off. The stunning grain is ready for several coats of finish. Paul chose an oil finish that is quick and easy to apply, needing only rags to apply and wipe off. The immense satisfaction for us in this episode of finishing is visceral. We loved it.
Very very nice… another beautiful piece. Why did Paul use wedges to level the front of the last drawer, and not the usual plastic shims, as he did in the first two front drawers?
The most important documents are first into the bottom drawer.
That spalted beach is beautiful. Thank you for sharing another wonderful piece. Any plans to make a complimentary chair for the desk?
Saw your granddaughters artwork. Very nice. Something I’ve seen done that could make for a fun little project is a picture frame for the wall that opens up and has say an 1 to 2” depth so you can store old artwork in there. With some sort of simple connectors, have the current piece displayed on the inside of the glass in frame door of the picture frame.
