Building the frames for the wardrobe sides is the first half of the making, and in this episode, we walk through how we get the random slats to look uniform and distinctive. Paul uses various techniques to speed up the process of straightening the oak, so that we minimise any distortion in the wood that might influence the frames negatively. Paul also wanted the grains to match and complement the work when they were formed into extra-wide panels. Fitting the strips, and edge-jointing them to perfect the joint lines, becomes simple as you follow Paul’s technique and add them individually to the frame, ready for gluing them together. We conclude this episode with fully made panels that also show door-making techniques step by step.
was there audio, I have no sound?
Sound working fine for me Doug. Maybe a local issue your end?
Thanks Paul. All kinds of helpful little tips in this video: use of a saw to clean out and refine the bevels, the nails to help keep the individual boards aligned, use of a framing square for checking square on larger pieces, use of a long spirit level. No matter how many years I’ve been watching your videos, there is always something to learn.
Brilliant, extremely generous content as always. Thank you Sir Paul and team.
