This is the most unconventional picture frame you are likely to make, and it has a couple of twists and turns you’ve never seen nor thought of using in woodworking. The methods Paul developed to make it really rock will indeed surprise you. You will see just how accurate the methods we use are and then the simplicity of how to make it too. If you have never thought of using grub screws in woodworking, threading wood with taps and such, this will engage you in a very different way.
Glad to see you are still recovering well. I’m curious as to why you would use a set screw instead of a wooden dowel glued in place?
Paul, are there details elsewhere about the finish you are using, or can you be more specific as to the finish you’ve chosen to use here? It appears quite thick, like an oil/wax blend. Is it commercial, or shop-made? Thanks for any info, and for an inspiring approach to frame-making.
Hi Kragh,
Paul is using Osmo Polyx®-Oil which is available over the counter at most woodworking stores and online. I’ve just recently bought a can of the Satin sheen for a project and I concur with Paul that’s it’s so easy to apply and the results were perfect!
God Bless,
Michael
Paul is using Osmo 3232, which is not available in the U.S.
I am pleased that you are doing well in your recovery. The frame it’s self is great but what I loved most was the lovely picture
of you in your shop with that beautiful dog. It appears that you are his favorite woodworker as well.
So glad you are doing well.
Paul
So happy to see you doing well. I was surprised you drove the nails home at the end. Doesn’t that mean you can never change the picture?
What a great process Paul, I love how the small details in building are so well thought out! I love the picture as well, what kind of dog do you have? Thanks!
Thanks for the compliments Jim! Rosie is a Working Cocker Spaniel.
Hi Paul. Great job making your picture frame. It is good to see you back at your bench. best wishes for a complete recovery.
