I have been sawing 2X4s like crazy practicing and getting my technique right. I am a lot better. I changed the placement of my thumb and quit trying to go so fast. This has stopped my saw from slicing to the right. Plus I watched Paul’s videos again and took the advise from everybody who responded.
Marilyn,
Thanks for the link. What a difference stance makes! This morning I trimmed some 2x4s for my bench top. I clamped them 2 up and put my knife wall around 3 sides.
Taking Shannon’s stance, the saw (just a cheap old Stanley Toolbox Saw) followed the walls like it was on rails. Usually, I’m squared up and constantly fighting to stay near the line.
Great link.

One of the things that Paul does that isn’t said, is as a general rule he treats every project as if it were a fine piece of furniture. Take it from an old man slow down. Relax your grip and let the saw do it’s work. I also saw with an old Stanley tool box saw, that has been sharpened and has a very light set. It’s a 10 tpi saw with a soft 12 tpi set, this helps to to keep the line drift down to a minimum, and lessens the overall drag. You’ll get there and as you say, practice. Good luck.
