I bought a vice at a tag sale a couple years ago. It’s a Columbian made in Clevland, OH. I forget how much I paid for it but I think it was about $20. Just installed it in a temporary workbench in my basement. Looks something like this:

It has “Made in USA” embossed on it. I have no idea what year it was made.

My York-vise which works very well has very sharp edges. I thought about filing them off. What about your vises? Are the old ones rounded over?

Mine really hurts if my knuckles hit from time to time.

    Florian,

I haven’t noticed any sharp edges on my vise. However, I just installed it and only used it a couple of times.
