I love my Stanley #45 (same as 405). I’ve been working on a blog (and video series) for setting up and use of it. It’s probably my favorite plane to use out of what I have.

You must be logged in to view attached files.Only being in my mid 20’s I have no reason to learn quickly, I guess 🙂 But what I like the most, is the (mostly) simple selection of tools. I live in an apartment, and use my second bedroom as my “workshop”. As such, I only use hand tools (except cordless drills), and a workmate. I do have a fair selection of power tools (Circular saw, jig saw, 2 routers, miter saw, ROS, biscuit joiner) but to use those I drive up to my parents’ house. Not ideal,but I enjoy it enough to persevere.

You must be logged in to view attached files.I modified it slightly. It’s a little shorter, and probably not as wide. The top and bottom pieces are 8″x5″. It is about 12.5″ tall. I intend for these to be desk/mantel clocks as opposed to hanging wall clocks.
I don’t have the clock inserts yet, they’re still on their way. I did two of them, one in poplar, and a second in mahogany. Not perfect, but it was a great way to spend a Friday and Saturday off.
