This episode is action-packed and covers a range of methods and techniques leading towards the conclusion of the box. We are now creating the hinge pin system for the removable lid/cutting board. Paul develops the pin recesses to the sides, ready to receive the lid, with the pintels for the lid opening. Glue up and assembly involves the screw system for locking the corners permanently together. Removing the screw heads in preparation for sanding and finishing gives this project its secretive intrigue for the years to come. There’s nothing conventional about it.
Thanks Paul, Much appreciated.
Hello Paul and team!
Is there a reason for the discrepancy in the measurement of the pin recesses given by Paul in the video and in the plans? In the video paul uses 30mm from the edge saying this is optimal in holding the lid upright but in th plans it says 35mm. Did he later change his mind and 35 is better or is this just a minor mistake in the plans?
Ah disregard, I just realized in the plans he’s measuring from a different edge, my bad!
When filing the screws, it might be a good idea to ‘safe’ the sides of the file that are not used with masking tape.
Thank you Paul. Learning a lot here!!!
