The shelves are cut to length using established patterns, and we must establish the exact distance between the two framers in relation to the backboards in order to get that distance. Paul cuts the boards to length, planing the final length, and then takes care of the steps at the corners. Squaring, trimming and planing the final trim ensures that all three shelves are exactly the same. In preparation for the next episode, Paul laminates the hook materials and explains why we laminate rather than using solid wood.
