Sellers Home Bedside Cabinet: Episode 7
Posted 19 April 2023
This is an episode in a paid series. Want to watch it? You just need to sign up as a paid member, and you can enjoy this video and many other videos we think you will love.
Pre-fitting and cutting drawer components directly from the reception area in the cabinet guarantees dead sizing. From this, we make the drawers close to the opening without excess. Many elements of Paul’s work are less commonplace than you might think, and this episode is full of them. We walk through the dovetailing and fitting, step by step and end with the drawer support rails, which have their idiosyncrasies. We think you will enjoy this episode.
No matter how many videos of Paul’s I watch, it never stops being a pleasure to watch him work.
That’s lovely feedback.
Been a member since 2016, think I have watched every episode, can’t disagree!
where does Paul get his pins for his marking gauges?

You can also purchase already sharpened and hardened pins from various sources.
I have used some made by a manufacturer called Crain, which makes tools and scribers for the flooring industry.
Google “Crain 371 “ and you should get a link to one suitable for a marking gauge. They are made for marking linoleum and vinyl flooring. Any local sheet goods supply house should stock them. They make shorter ones that are less expensive which would work for replacement mortise gauge pins. (Crain 129).
I remember Paul mentioning using a certain gauge piano wire for some of his self-made marking/mortise gauges. I don’t remember the gauge, but in the marking gauge video I’m pretty sure he does state the particular gauge he uses.
