Sellers Home Coffee Table: Episode 6
Posted 16 June 2021
This is an episode in a paid series. Want to watch it? You just need to sign up as a paid member, and you can enjoy this video and many other videos we think you will love.
This episode deals with a variety of techniques to progress the coffee table. Firstly we shape the legs using the spokeshave and other tools to take what was a basic square leg and give it shape and elegance. Sometimes nothing is improved by modern methods and hand tool methods can often speed up and simplify tasks in a way that no other methods can. Paul uses traditional methods taught to him almost 60 years ago simply to preserve the method of making turnbuttons in the lives of future woodworkers. We are hoping you will learn new things using some of the shaping methods you discover in this special episode on shaping.
Another great episode. Really clever idea to only feather one corner of the arch in the long rail to keep the integrity of the lamination. Thank you for more good teaching!
What a difference the arch made. Thank you so much for all this information.
Thanks Paul. I have a suggestion. Could you make a separate YouTube video (could be just as easy as taking the content from this video) on making the turn buttons? I’ve seen you use and discuss them before but I can never recall what video they are in. When I need them and want to refresh my memory, it would be handy if they were a 5ish minute YouTube video that discussed them. Just a suggestion.
Turn buttons is a free video on this site.

Thanks. Wasn’t aware of that.
My life is defined as “pre PS” and “post PS.” I’m so thankful I discovered him!
