Well I’m done…again. I reduced the outer belly of the arms by about a 1/4″. I also thinned the stretcher in both width and thickness. I didn’t take that much wood off but the difference is dramatic, at least to me. The balance is quite better as well.

As always…thanks for looking.
I really like it Greg, nice job! I need to get you my shipping address.
Thanks Steve…I’ll not be parting with this saw for love nor money. 🙂
I’ve grown very attached to it.
Looks Great Greg.
I have really got to think about making one of these bow saws.
Thanks Eddy and Mark. You guys have got to build one for yourself. It’s a lot of fun. It’s very satisfying to use a tool that you have made yourself.
My final saw ended up almost exactly the same as the Gramercy saw in shape and size. So I suggest using their free plans. I would also go with the pins that they sell or have a go at making your own. From what I’ve read, it was common to buy the handle, pins and blades and make your own frame.
It really is fun to make and use.
Challenge Accepted!!
I actually bought that kit a couple months back and have not had time to work on it yet, I am off work the next few days so I may go ahead and get it done.
Thanks for the inspiration!!
Thanks Dan. Hickory seems to be the wood of choice for sure.
Thank you Colin.
Sorry about that Dave. Stupid spell check was making guesses at what I was trying to type again.
