I fell in love with Handtools the first time I used one. Then I heard this from Paul.
Drawer Making episode 3
By the time you’re done your setup,in thin stock with flat boards like this, it’s quite a lot of work really. “Plus your not doing this the machine does”.
In reality, it’s true, I can watch Paul over and over again and still amazed me every time, I fell asleep with some woodworker trying to cut a dovetail with a router and a jig.
A woodworker who works with his hands and handtools is a Craftsman/Artisan, while a woodworker who uses power tools is really a “driver”
I’m from the other side of the world. I think I watched almost all woodworking videos this internet age has to offer, but nothing like Paul teaching. He inspired people period. I told this to myself the other day, if I will spend my hard earned money to someone teaching me woodworking, it will be Paul Sellers.
Not sure if will help, but did you try Ebay? I’m from the Philippines and a good tenon/backsaw is almost none existence. I decided to buy from Ebay UK. The choices are so many and quality ones too. I don’t know if the piece I’m buying is rip or crosscut until it arrived, but it’s very easy to change the tooth pattern from crosscut to rip or vise versa.
