I just checked. You are right in what you wrote. But, Paul uses the 10-598 which is a whole different tool.
I bought a pair of the 10-598 and the Swann blades look like they would fit nicely.
IMHO, the 10-598 is MUCH better than the US version (10-049). The blade is much thinner and seems sharper. Unfortunately they are hard to find on this side of the pond.
When they were first made available (actually, the day before), I went to my Aldi in Boca Raton. They had 2 sets left (never got any more in stock according to the manager — they didn’t expect the demand). I bought both sets.
Honed up the blades. Only the (almost) 1″ needed much work on the back, but all the bevels went very quickly from 1000 grit to 8000 grit then the stropping. I now had very sharp and good chisels.
I then spent about an hour and a half on each handle. They are very comfortable and really work well. I don’t know if they’ll be as good as my Lie-Nielsen chisels, but time will tell.
So far I only had to re-strop.
Thank you Mr. Sellers.

I am late to the discussion but I saw Alex at a Woodworking show. I spoke to him and his father and decided to buy the guides (didn’t buy their blades though). The guide installation on my Grizzly was not smooth. The Carter instructions are really lousy. Several calls remedied my problems (I actually had them installed backwards at first). Once I installed the guides I tried to resaw some poplar (not a really hard task) and it didn’t work out well.
I installed a new Timberwolf blade and it was magic!
The old blade was probably just a bit dulled, but following Alex’s instructions was a big help.

I would love to get a set of the Aldi’s chisels, but they don’t sell them here in the colonies.
My wife called their corporate office and the person she spoke to said they sold them once upon a time and don’t know when they will sell them again.
Paul should pack some up when he heads over here again. Or someone should send me a couple of sets and I will, of course, pay them back.
