    Smoke, mirrors and camera angle. Thought about a piece down the center but didn’t have a threaten rod for holding the parts together.

    Here are some pics showing the 2 Stanley knifes next to my little Gerber. All 3 work well. I like the flexibility of the thinner Stanley.

    Marking knife discussion

    I replied to the above thread with a pic of the different Stanley knives and a small pocket knife I have used. The blade on the latter I flattened on one side. It worked quite well for marking and making Paul’s knife walls. I see me reason why you could not repurpose your knife. The only reason I like tha Stanley over it is the larger handle is a tad more comfortable.

    Thanks folks. I wish I could play it. I like the bluesy sounds these can make when amplified.

    And yes I learned quite a bit with the build.

    I third epoxy. I’d say that’s why there are dimples on the sides. I like the latch, unique.

    I know it is hard to tell from a picture only, but they look like soft steel to me. See how the 1/4″ is already starting to rust? Compare them to a cheap harbor freight set. The edge won’t hold up long I’d guess….but I could be wrong….

    @mikewinva

    I think you are correct, it was not shellac. Using a rag soaked in Denatured alcohol seemed to soften the old finish, but would not cut it. I ended up scraping most of it off. Found some repairs using some sort of filler. Not sure what was used though. See pic
