Paul makes and fits some keyhole plates in the same way that he did in the original. He starts with a brass hinge and once shaped, recesses them in place.
Finally! A good use for today’s shoddy brass hinges. … and a way to save on the overpriced hanging plates.

That’s a great project in itself, but also with elements that can be used in other projects (like how to do a round over along a curved edge). Thank you for sharing it.
Hello from India. We don’t get all the tools that Paul mentions in his videos here in India (Mainly a good spokeshave). However, with a bit of jugglery and substitutions (spokeshave substituted for a No4), I managed to complete this project. Using reclaimed teak wood from a 100 year old door panel.
Lovely project and also the history behind it! I would love to see a closeup on the original!
