This 30 year old Tool addiction is quite bad for me and the internet has just made it worse.
I used to walk into a tool shop and always come out with more than what I wanted.
I do not need any more planes saws , chisels and gauges and others but cannot help myself.
Don’t get me started on clamps 😮
I do not need any more planes saws , chisels and gauges and others but cannot help myself.
I’ve been there Mark… My wife tried to put the kibosh on my endless tool buying, which helped for sure – but ultimately it was me finally being content with my tools that satiated any desire for more. That is the most dangerous thing about a novice like me buying vintage tools. I now have to start selling my extras to recoup my old spending sprees…
I did discover one thing last night: My vintage Stanley “Sweethart” No.151 appears to have a curved sole (a 151R) which I just learned is supposedly rare and worth some money. I have to confirm when I return home tonight.
5 March 2014 at 9:10 pm #28613Sandy I would love one of those Veritas routers hope you enjoy playing with it.
Well I’ve been at it again Bought a Woden W78 rebate plane 😀
Also at work there is a big quick release vice made by Woden which I can get for nothing or maybe a little favour.Attachments:

6 April 2014 at 3:54 pm #50299Just bought LIOGIER small starter set of rasps and 12″ cabinetmaker 6 grain rasp, brass brush and protective oil. Cost €332 with shipping that a fair bit of money for me. These rasps are life time stuff especially when you only get to do woodworking as much as I do.
Too many good reviews about hand stitched rasps not to have any.
I’m very excited can’t wait to have a go.
The rasps I do have pretty old came from my grandfather all are dull rusty and hard work to use.http://www.hand-stitched-rasp-riffler.com/tradition/woodworking/rasps/small-starter-set.html
24 April 2014 at 8:49 pm #56400Just bought a No.1 Quangsheng bronze plane its more like an ornament just looks very nice and dainty. It is not very practical. I also bought low angle Quangsheng jack plane. Which is quite nicely made and finished. I have also got coming different angled irons for low angle jack. I have had a Stanley premium low angle jack for a while and dose take a very thin shaving. Had play with Quangsheng low angle jack results pretty similar.
I have also got a set of water stones though I would have a play with water stones as never used before. Diamond plates do take a bit of beating which have used for about 2.5 years. I have 3M films for scary sharpening does produce very sharp edge little slow though. Before that use my two sided oil stone which I used for years.
I am enjoying my self making comparison with different planes and chisels.Attachments:

Your going to run out of shop space pretty soon for having to store all your tools. Congratulations on your new purchase, I know that you truly enjoy your tools.
