Wow..You’ve chosen the wood very well…IMHO,..the joinery exudes craftsmanship.
Overall, the impression of the work is stunning. You must be feeling pretty good at this point, buddy…Congrats!@gman3555 and @handworkenthusiast
Thanks and yes I am looking forward to having this completed. I do know I have to resist the temptation to “get it done”. There is quite a lot yet to be done and I don’t want to start getting sloppy. I’m hoping I can get it glued up tonight after I scrape the lid panel smooth.

There is a ledger that will be glued in to house an interior drop down frame and panel for storing my saws.

I’m still debating on the wood for the panel, it’s either going to be cherry or walnut. My lumber yard is having a 20% off sales this coming week so I’m going to go look at some different woods.
The photo is what the lid will look like with the frame installed, it is hinge on the bottom ledger and will fold down to open the internal saw storage.

I’m sure the completed chest is going to very impressive. Fantastic work Dave and thanks for posting and bringing us along on your journey.
Well after sorting through a whole bunch of wood I ended up finding this board which I think is going to look nice for the panel once I get it dimensioned and planed down to 3/4 inch. I’m still playing with the orientation of the two halves but this is the layout which initially looks best.

Greg, yeah it’s walnut, 20% off this month! I took the frame into the lumber yard and had a look through cherry, jatoba (Brazilian cherry) and walnut. Cherry just didn’t look good in the middle. The frame is cherry so I’m hoping the contrast will look okay. Next is to get these boards dimensioned, jointed and glued up.
