Thanks everyone.

The first class meets Jan 17. I’ve wanted to take some classes from the school, but didn’t think I could fit it in with my work. Now they do “weekend” school so I think it will work well with the rest of my life. I was pleasantly surprised that they begin with hand tools. Of course the instructors will not likely have Paul’s level of experience, but I’ll have the benefit of Paul’s instruction from WWMC. Plus I’m still waiting for Paul to offer another basics class in the USA.
How did you get on at your first class Denise?
22 January 2014 at 12:25 pm #26379At $95.00 for the spokeshave above, that works out at around £43.00? Considering it’s built from Stainless steel and brass, I don’t think that’s overly expensive, or is it?
10 January 2014 at 10:59 am #25676I used to work a lot with alloy and bare metal making motorcycle parts. The way I stopped them corroding or rusting was (as Juan suggested) to give them a buff up with a metal polish. I used Autosol Chrome and Metal polish mostly and if applied with a microfibre cloth then it won’t mark your tools.

With £15 Off… this Stanley Bailey 5 Piece Chisel Set looks nice too.
I have the Stanley low angle block plane and I think it’s a very well built tool, nicely finished. I also sent for those chisels yesterday. -
