I wonder what the manufacturer would consider as a bulk shipments to someone in the US. No doubt someone on here has a retail establishment that has all of the legal stuff to receive a bulk order and distribute. I doubt they would just ship a few hundred packs to any old person but someone with a merchant account they might. Never know. In bet someone could make a profit and still sell them cheaply. My big question is how do they comper to the Harbour Freight Cheapies. If similar maybe we all in the US should just go that route and be done with it
Hi Whitney, sadly lumber is difficult in this area. I live in College Park and used to own a truck. God do I miss that thing :(. I would think nothing of heading up to Hearned hardwoods in Pennsylvania and just pick up what I needed. Exotic Lumber in Gathersburh is ok but can be pricey (and I do not know about shipping or finish planing from them as I buy it rough and plane it down myself. ). I have not needed large quantities for a while as I stocked up on a load of Cherry before I sold the truck. But the nest time I do I think a few of us MD/DC/VA people should pool together and make a road trip out of it.
Since I am in the area if you want to get it rough I have a planer you can use to plane it down. I know we are hand tools only on this site for the most part (Hey Paul has been wheeling that bandsaw out). so if a planer saves money why not….John
I was following a link over at sawmillcreek and cracked and ordered the set. I have been in the market but really didn’t need the set. Like I didn’t need the full set of Narex bench or mortise or skew chisels. Yup I got them all. I have a little problem. Chisels anonymous would be good for me 🙂
Is the redwood mentioned by the guys in the UK the same as the US redwood grown on the west coast? IF so I find it interesting that it is imported over there but hard for me to get on the east coast of the US.
Thanks for all the replies, keep em coming I do find it interesting to see the other species we are using. Many of which I am wearing Google out with as I never heard of them :). Meranti for one I have never heard of but find interesting.
Ouch, I couldn’t imagine dropping a vise on my head. Here is a quick tip. Take a piece of scrap 2×4 and clamp it in the vise with enough sticking out the bottom to reach the floor with the vise at it’s installation height. Makes for a third hand holding the vise while installing and you would really have to work hard to hit yourself in the head with it that way. But I suppose it can be done 🙂
For the record that seller is a known dealer and his prices are normally extremely high. He does not get complaints on his tools just the proces. Also you can usually get the stuff off of his web site cheaper then the ebay adds. Many think he sets the ebay adds to attract people to his site. I am not saying he is bad. Just let it be known he is a dealer and is profit driven so prices will be higher.
