It’s time to glue up the main frame. Once that is done the crown and bottom trim are mitred and fitted. The crown is shaped and then the trim and crown are fitted and glued using battens.
Now the side pieces are done, it’s time to plough and fit the loose tongue and groove. Once this is done, Paul does the fitting on the shelves and side panels, ready for the back panel.
In this episode Paul shows cutting and fitting the top and bottom of the shelf. This is a critical step and, if done correctly, helps to ensure the entire project is square and true.

This simple corner shelf has a carefully thought-out design which allows it to be scalable and withstand the shrinkage/swelling that is normal in wooden projects.

It’s time to fit the stops/planted rebates to the lid of the lamp. Once these have been mitred to fit, Paul glues up the top frame and fits the stops. He then cuts the recess for the hinges in the main frame.
Time to get started on the lamp top by marking out and cutting the half-housing joints. Watch out for the techniques that make sure you get a nice flush finish.
