The glue in the above picture David 😉
Titebond II is meant to hold up for exterior use.It
I decided to give gate a clean up and a lick of Danish oil which will be the first of many coats.
I like to leave clamps on a bit longer but tenons are wedge securely so should be ok. I also checked for square and wind used winding sticks all seemed pretty good.
Now I have goto find something for posts I may have a couple of bits of Oak I can use. Also find some new ironmongery.Attachments:

23 March 2014 at 10:19 pm #33252Mark that gate is beautiful. Very nice job! Once you get it installed you will have to round all the bolt heads off so that it doesn’t grow legs and wonder off. 😉
It really is very nice.
24 March 2014 at 7:36 pm #34605Sorry Mark I did not notice the glue in the photo, do you use Titebond on all projects Indoor and out, up to now I have only used the Woodcare PVE standard and the 5 Minute Super fast glues , they say they are suitable for out door use but I have not used it on any out door projects
25 March 2014 at 8:47 pm #35744David first time ever used titebond II . Would have liked to use this glue flat on bench not sure wether it is a bit runnier but I did get in a bit of a mess trying to glue in upright position.
I have used PVE in the past.
For all interior work I normally use PVA.
I have got three coats of Danish oil on gate so far. I am aiming for six coats of Danish oil.
I have read that Danish oil is not the best for Oak. So I will purchase some Tung oil for the Oak posts.
I am thinking of using some descent stainless steel butt hinges.
I am not a great lover of T hinges. As gate is of good door construction will not have a problem of gate dropping.
I will probably clean up original auto gate latch.
The finishing line in site but with my work commitments always takes longer then I would like.
To everyone thank you for your kind comments .
I will keep you all update.25 March 2014 at 11:46 pm #35849I did looks at Titebond III on the whole on what reviews I read Titebond II was preferred.
