    Whitney here in the UK the price of rough sawn lumber/timber and getting them to dimension it to size, the difference can be about double.

    Sandy I can not through any useful wood away. If I can make a small box with it it stays, it has to be in really bad shape before it is thrown out. HaHa yeah I’m a wood hoarder 😉

    I think for a second plane anything between a No 5 and No 6 would do you well. My No 6 gets used more than any others, but having said that I find a low angled jack plane with three blades can cover just about anything, for medium sized projects.

    A good quality No 4 new or secondhand is a good one also. 😉
