With the base prepared and cut to size, Paul shapes the base by bevelling the bottom edge and rounding over the top edge. Then it is ready to be screwed onto the body of the tray and a finish is applied to round out the project.
The top frame begins with cutting the corner dovetails. Then the combined stopped housing and round mortise joint are are cut into the end frame pieces, before the round tenon is cut and fit into place.
Once the bottom is laminated, the half housings can be laid out and cut. Then the top edges are cambered and rounded.
