Very nice. I can relate to your comment about progressing as a wood worker. I’m building my joiners chest now and the first set of dovetails does not look like the most recent ones. Thankfully, it will be painted in the end. With the price of wood right now, I couldn’t just scrap the job and build new, so it’ll be a constant reminder of where I came from.
2 February 2016 at 7:52 pm #134426just bought 8 of them yesterday. Paul talked about inserting plywood in the body of the extruded aluminum to prevent twisting. We’ll see how the stack up.
25 January 2016 at 7:22 pm #134186Paul has some trick and techniques for using the plow plane, which he demonstrates on several projects ( the wall hung cabinet is one of them). It sounds like you are not cutting to a knife wall. Try marking the edges of your dado with your knife and then as you go deeper, reestablish the knife wall when you start seeing frayed wood. -Bryan

Have you worked out the color yet? I’m just starting mine and was thinking of a dark green semi-gloss, to help with moisture. But Paul did a chalk paint on his, which I thought was nice as well.

21 January 2016 at 6:54 pm #134053Hi Joe,
What a great find. The man clearly had an eye for quality tools. I have an Atkins plow plane just like the one you have pictured. It is one of my favorite tools. Plus, the box is great!
Welcome to our little community,
