Well, I think the last seven or eight projects have been on a beginners level. I personally would like to see some larger projects.A bed would be nice if it’s more than just rectangles. How about a Grand father clock with emphases. on the top cornice. Anything larger than a coat hook or a simple leaning book rack.
I love the instruction but would like more better projects. I hope that didn’t sound mean or that I want to cause trouble just want to learn more.R. Hames
5 October 2016 at 12:18 pm #141194Ed, Thanks. I am wanting to build my own set of hollows and rounds but was unsure of doing the hollows. I must also get the shaping video. One thing I’m afraid once I get started I will not be satisfied with just a half set and will not stop until I have a whole set. I know you can build anything you want with a half set. But I’ve got the tool bug. You know I have to fill up my joiners tool box and my Dutch chest.
1 April 2013 at 6:39 pm #10373How many plans are out there for tool chests? I vote for the rocking chair. Something more challenging than the boxes and a tool chest is just a bigger box. Either way I’m there
26 March 2013 at 8:55 pm #10068Wow, What a Great time I had at the woodworking show. Met Paul, watched several seminars. Tools everywhere. Met a few other members. Paul asked a question during one of his seminars, “Where are all the children?” It struck me as we all paused and we all looked around. None to be found. Hmm, I’ve got to do my share to get younger people interested. Hey there is a elementry school right across the street from my house. To start off, I can make pencil boxes for the kindergarden children and talk with them and maybe get them interested in learning woodworking. Well I’m getting off subject. If you get a chance to go to one of the shows you’ll be glad you did. Share our hobby with others.

Now that was FUNNY! Besides that my GPS will not show anything above the Maxon-Dixon line. 🙂 Meant with humor

1 March 2013 at 2:55 am #8704Stephen,
Believe it or not I’ve got the same plans. Hope to keep the wife and daughter busy at the Big Mall across the highway. While I have fun at the show. It will be the first I’ve attended.
27 February 2013 at 6:35 am #8522With these prices I wonder if a Japanese made set would be any good. I know they come in a set of six. I know they work on the pull stroke rather than the push. Any one know of someone who has used them? They are a whole lot less expensive.
27 February 2013 at 6:27 am #8521Stephen,
Go with the Lie Nielson. I love mine. I got mine about the same time Ken got his. Very easy to set for correct depth. In my humble opinion it doesn’t really matter about the open or closed throat. Mine is closed. Hope this helps.
26 February 2013 at 7:57 pm #8500Wow Guys,
They seem to be a whole lot harder to make than I previously thought. I’m going to see what the availability of beech is around here. This is going to take a lot of planing. Thanks for your thoughts.
26 February 2013 at 11:19 am #8474Thanks Gary & Jeff,
I’ll probably wind up getting both videos, as I like obtaining more than just one source of making things. Not to say one is right or wrong but there’s always something one shows a little differently that you might like better.
I’m a little concerned about the grinding, heat treating and tempering the blades.
Jeff, let me know how yours turns out. I would really like to make my own half set.
Thanks for both of your help. p.s. I think this website and forums are Great!
19 February 2013 at 4:47 pm #8175Florian, My apology, I miss read what you were looking into. I was thinking their chisel set, not wood turning chisels.
19 February 2013 at 4:40 pm #8174YES!, I need a new coffee table. Can’t wait. I assume the fitted lid for the box is next in this series?
